The IHIMC began as the IHS Technology Conference, and has been held annually since the mid 1980s. The purpose of the IHIMC and its antecedent conferences is to provide for the demonstration and discussion of Information Technology tools, as the IHS IT community supports health care delivery in Indian Country. IHIMC is a forum for technical leadership, direction and support in the promotion of quality health care through collaboration and active participation in the development of policy and national standards of care regarding the health of American Indian/Alaska Native people in Federal (IHS), Tribal and Urban settings (I/T/U).
