Background:
Tops of concrete sanitary sewer pipes were found with cracks and in some cases were totally dissolved due to exposure to hydrogen sulfide contained in the raw sewage.

Lessons Learned:
Don't use concrete material for sanitary sewer pipes.

Recommended Action:
Use PVC or HDPE pipes for sanitary sewers.
