Activity: Architectural Keyword: Storage-Cart Exchange Background: Lack of storage problems were exacerbated by planning changes. The storage spaces throughout the hospital were designed in conjunction with a cart exchange system. The
cart exchange system was never placed in operation. Lessons Learned: With these major program and implementation changes, the overall storage space would be severely compromised. Program assumptions that affect design space must be fully
committed for the design to work. Experimental systems without proven track records should have optional plans. Recommended Action: Secure firm commitments on systems before reducing programmed space. Verify that new system will work for a hospital before adopting it.
