Activity: Other / Misc

Keyword: Exterior Entrance Drafts

Background:
The problem stems from the architectural design location of exterior entrances that are subject to severe cold drafts/winds in the winter that render certain spaces unusable, in this case central supply and snack bar.

Lessons Learned:
In certain climate areas there must be close coordination between the Architectural and mechanical design. The problem may be architecturally solved by incorporating vestibules or by inserting air curtains in the mechanical design.

Recommended Action:
Exterior entrances must be studied during design to render them fully useable if that is the intention. This requires close coordination between the architectural and mechanical designers.
