Release Date: July 26, 2012Source: System for Award Management Project Management Office
Subject: CCR is Moving to SAM This Week
The end of July is fast approaching. The new System for Award Management (SAM) will replace the Central
Contractor Registration (CCR), Federal Agency Registration (FedReg), Online Representations and
Certifications Application (ORCA), and Excluded Parties List System (EPLS) on Monday, July 30th.
As a recap, CCR has stopped accepting any new records or updates to existing records as of the close of business
Tuesday, July 24th. That means there will be no CCR updates to Grants.gov from Wednesday, July 25th
until SAM goes live on Monday, July 30th. As you may know, it takes at least a day after a CCR
registrant receives the activation notice for their information to be available in Grants.gov.
How does the transition impact new registrants?
CCR will not process any new registrations on Wednesday (July 25, 2012), Thursday (July 26, 2012),
Friday (July 27, 2012) or over that weekend. Since it takes a day for CCR data to populate in Grants.gov,
if a new registrant who is trying to apply for a grant on Grants.gov was not active in CCR by Monday
(July 23, 2012), their active status will not likely appear in Grants.gov prior to SAM going live.
How will the transition impact current registrants?
If a current registrant's record was set to expire between July 16, 2012 and October 15, 2012, CCR
extended their expiration date by 90 days. They should have received an e-mail notification from CCR when
their expiration date was extended. They will receive standard e-mail reminders once SAM goes live to
update their record based on this new expiration date. Those e-mail notifications will come
from SAM.
For those of you familiar with this effort, you know it will reduce the number of passwords you need
to remember, reduce the number of systems you need to enter and interact with, and reduce data
redundancy by sharing the data across the award lifecycle. To help you better understand how this
will work, SAM training is available online. Please visit
SAM.gov
for more information.
Please see the CCR Web site.
for information that
will guide you in the transition of the CCR system to SAM and provide answers to what this means
for you. If you have questions and concerns, please contact the IHS Division of Grants Management
Office at (301) 443-5204.
