Summary:

This two-day presentation is intended to provide the very latest information on the prevention and management of dental caries. Both clinical and community-based interventions will be presented and the learning group will discuss the implementation of these interventions. In addition, the presentation will review dental program GPRA objectives, ECC, the use of fluoride, xylitol, nutrition and children’s health, and effective health education strategies.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. List at least three modes of delivering fluoride and xylitol.
2. Describe the most effective way to place and maintain dental sealants
4. Describe prevention strategies for infants and toddlers and how to teach parents and teachers to look for decay in this age group
5. List at least two strategies to improve the effectiveness of health education.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
