Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to:
1. Screen patients on a regular basis for potential dental complications.
2. Refer DM patients to dental clinic in a timely fashion for annual exams.
3. Encourage glycemic control to improve oral health and reduce risks for complications of dental procedures.

Speaker / Presenter:

Rickey Thompson — After graduation from dental school in 1989, worked in the private sector for a year before joining the U.S Air Force. Transferred to the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in 1993. PHS assignments have included Fort Peck Service Unit, Southern Colorado Service Unit, and Shiprock Service Units. Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
