Summary:

This is a five-day course designed to include lectures and workshops. The course is open to both civilian and military dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants.

The primary focus of the course is to expose the experienced forensic scientist, and to introduce the novice to state-of-the-art techniques for forensic endeavors with an emphasis on mass disaster and dental identification. The laboratory session integrates digital radiology, photographic capture and computer database, with a mock mass disaster identification exercise. Other laboratories include bitemark analysis, skeletal anthropology, antemortem-postmortem radiographic comparison and radiographic age assessment.

The primary emphasis of the course is forensic odontology; however, overviews of allied disciplines are provided to complete attendees’ knowledge base.

RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN BOARD OF FORENSIC ODONTOLOGY
This computer integrated course emphasizes the latest and emerging technologies in Forensic Dentistry’s role in Mass Disaster Management. In its 48th year, this renowned continuing education course is recognized by the American Board of Forensic Odontology [ABFO] in fulfilling a requirement towards board certification. This course is unique in meeting these requirements, and thus receiving such an endorsement by ABFO – an organization that establishes the standards of qualification for those who practice forensic odontology.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
