Summary:

The purpose of this course, in accordance with the IHS Director’s stated priorities, is to support the delivery and quality of dental care through enhanced professional competencies and maintenance of licensure requirements.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
Ms. Marcy Luter session:
1. Identify and describe four key ‘villains’ of decision-making – common traps and biases that psychologists have identified like over-confidence, distraction by short-term emotions, etc.
2. Recognize the WRAP process for making decisions – widen options, reality test your assumptions, attain some distance, and prepare to be wrong.
3. Brainstorm and identify practical solutions to common decisions staff members have to make on a daily and weekly basis.

Dr. Walter’s session:
1. Identify and utilize appropriate techniques to safely transport, retrieve, clean, and sterilize contaminated instruments.
2. Implement the necessary quality assurance [QA] measures to ensure adequate sterilization.
3. Identify and apply basics of team building, strengths-based approaches, and enhanced communication channels to improve the quality of patient care delivered.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
