Summary:

The purpose of the course is to provide newly hired dental staff on the theory and techniques to diagnose, prevent and treat ECC and to provide theory and techniques to treat the vital pulp.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify the causes of ECC, its prevention, and treatment.
2. Analyze the data from the 2010 IHS Oral Health Survey for ages 0-5.
3. Utilize the data to provide information to patients, service unit staff and community members.
4. Explain pulp biology basis for decision making for diagnosis and treatment of vital pulp in teeth with deep carious lesions or traumatic pulp exposures.
5. Diagnose and treat dental pulp conditions in teeth with caries or trauma.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
