Summary:

This one-day course provides a review of basic dental materials frequently used in dental treatment. We will discuss the properties and the rationale to choose a specific type of dental material. We will also present current concepts about implant restoration. We will also review current periodontal literature with an emphasis on translating the research into clinically useful information. Participants will review common drugs used by dental patients, and current concepts in infection control.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Discuss the advantages and challenges associated with different types of alloys, amalgams, cements, resins, bonding agents, composite systems, impression materials, dental stones, and glass ionomers.
2. List the common models used periodontal research and identify key head and neck anatomic concepts useful in periodontology.
3. Name the 10 most commonly prescribed drugs and their actions, and identify key concepts in preventing spread of infectious disease in the dental clinic.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
