Administration

  The Rapid City Service Unit Indian Health Service (IHS), Sioux San, is a Public Health Service (PHS) Indian Hospital. Sioux San is governed by a Chief Exectuive Officer and Executive Committee. 

  The Chief Executive Officer holds the overall responsibility for activities occurring at Sioux San Hospital.  The activities are catagorized as administrative, clincal or grant in nature.  All grant activites are supervised by the Chief Executive Officer.

  An Administrative Officer manages and supervises the administrative services departments of the hospital including: Personnel, Dietary, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Property & Supply/procurement and Managed Care.  Primary functions are to ensure the establishment and implementation of Service Unit Policies and goals, development of health service standards and quality control, including the review and evaluation of current health programs.   Participates in the Service Unit Executive management team in the planning, interpretation and implementation of policies, guidelines, statutes, and directives from all levels of the department.

  A Clinical Director manages and supervises the clinical services departments of the hospital including: Medical Staff, Nursing, Dental, Mental Health, Optometry, Community Health, Laboratory, Pharmacy and Specialty Clinics.  Primary function is to ensure the quality medical care is provided to patients seen at Sioux San Hospital.  Participates in the Service Unit Executive management team in the planning, interpretation and implementation of policies, guidelines, statutes, and directives from all levels of the department.
