  The Health Education department at Sioux San plans and executes educational programs for Sioux San employees and the Pennington County American Indian community.   Health Education will be designed to be culturally sensitive, and to use a holistic approach that will empower the patient in areas of self-care.

  Health Education follows the direction of Goverment Performance and Results Act (GPRA) objectives for Tobacco, Obesity, Diabetes, Cancer, and Communicable Diseases.

  The Scope of Services for the Health Education department provides quality patient education programs, which includes:

  • Patient Assessments
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Exercise Presroptions
  • Individual or Group Patient Education, using a variety of methods
  • Community Education
  • Support Groups
  • Wellness Activities for Rapid City American Indian community members
