Health Care
Suite 400
640 Flormann Street
Rapid City, South Dakota   57701

APPOINTMENTS: (605) 342 - 7400

System of Care:
The Native Women's Health Care program serves patients from the Rapid City and Red Shirt Table communities. Any Native American woman, who is eligible for IHS care, can be seen, regardless of community or reservation. In some cases, Contract Health Services may need to be contacted if the woman does not have any third party resources (Title 19, Private insurance, etc...).

Appointments:
Due to the high volume of patients, it is extremely important that scheduled appointments are kept, or rescheduled as early as possible.  Appointments are usaully booked two to three weeks in advance.  This is especially important when your visits increase to every one to two weeks during the later months of a pregnancy.

Meeting the Obstetric and Gynocologic Needs
of Native American Women

A Certified Nurse Midwife is an individual who is educated in two disciplines, nursing and midwifery.  With a 72-year history, the safety of their practice is extensively documented.

  • Nurse-Midwives believe every individual has the right to safe, satisfying health care with respect to human dignity and cultural variations.
  • Nurse-Midwives must meet rigorous standards for education, certification and practice according to the requirements of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Obstetrician-gynocologists are physicians dedicated to the integrated medical and surgical care of women's health throughout their lifespan.  The combined discipline of obstetrics and gynocology requires an extensive knowledge of reproductive bodily processes, including physical, social, cultural, genetic, and environmental factors that influence disease in women, as well as care related to pregnancy and reproductive tract.
