Director's Elder Awards

The Phoenix Area Indian Health Service Elders Committee was organized to promote, inform and educate Native American Elders on healthy lifestyles and also to recognize achievements and accomplishments each year involving elders
Elder of the Year
  Ramon Riley
For his role as the White Mountain Apache Tribe Cultural Resource Director where through his leadership “lost” cultural items have begun their journey back to the Tribe.

 

Native American Elder Fitness Award
  Stanley Manakaja
As a diet controlled diabetic Mr. Manakaja is an example of elder fitness by jogging or walking two miles daily and growing a garden large enough to feed his community.

 

Elder Service Award for a Non-Elder
  Yolanda Frenchman
For her years of service as the tribal case management coordinator for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System’s - Arizona Long Term Care Systems program.

 

Elder Service Award for a Youth
  Clayton Lyle Harvey
Due to his close relationship with his grandmother and his devotion of time, Mr. Harvey has lovingly taken responsible care of her by taking her to her appointments, to the eye clinic, and to the pharmacy for medication refills at the IHS Hospital in Parker.
