Director's Award of Excellence

This award recognizes extraordinary excellence in service to the Indian Health Service or a Tribal Health Program, over a sustained period of time. This award represents the highest level of recognition by the Director, Phoenix Area Indian Health Service.
Mr. Davis & Dr. Paul Ebbert Dr. Paul Ebbert, Ft. Yuma Service Unit
Dr. Paul Ebbert is awarded the Director’s Award for his role as Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Uintah and Ouray Service Unit at Fort Duchesne for assuming responsibilities above and beyond his position of record and for meeting the additional requirements in an exceptional manner. Dr. Ebbert has provided noteworthy leadership and direction to the Service Unit. Through his leadership, the Service Unit has maintained the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ regulations. He has placed maximum efforts on meeting third party collection targets and has been able to establish positive working relationships with the three Tribes within the Service Unit.

For outstanding leadership that resulted in reducing the processing time of contract health referrals and purchase orders.
Mr. Davis & Brian Johnson Brian Johnson, Whiteriver Service Unit
For exceptional performance in providing environmental health services to the White Mountain Apache Tribe.
Steven Tetrev Dr. Steven Tetrev, DDS, Phoenix Area Office
For Outstanding Performance as the Chief Dental Officer and for furthering Area wide activities as the Acting Chief Medical Officer for the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service.
