Director's Exceptional Performance Awards

This award recognizes and honors exceptional specific performance to the Phoenix Area, a Service Unit, or to a Tribal health program having substantial impact toward the advancement of its mission. The award can be used to recognize individuals or groups.
SteveRaymond Stephen A. Raymond, Supervisory Medical Technologist at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center
Stephen A. Raymond is a Supervisory Medical Technologist at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center Laboratory. For the past four years he has assumed the duties and responsibilities of Project Coordinator and Primary Investigator for several strategic management initiatives at the medical center. During this time frame, he continued to perform the duties and responsibilities of Supervisory Medical Technologist in an outstanding manner. He has also been a true leader not only within the department and the general laboratory but also in the management and coordination of performance improvement activities associated with the medical center’s strategic initiatives.

As the Project Manager, Mr. Raymond was responsible for the planning, building, and procurement of all equipment and supplies for the Specialty Clinic and the Pathology Modular Building. This initiative allowed the Pathology staff to have more room to deliver Surgical Pathology and Cytology services.

Mr. Raymond has been instrumental in maintaining and improving laboratory and information management services at the medical center. He was also influential in the department quality assurance activities including preparing policies and procedures for our College of American Pathologist accreditation survey process as well as the facilities quality assurance activities.

John Lallo John Lallo, R.N., Parker Indian Health Center
For consistent outstanding performance of nursing duties in emergency and outpatient nursing service at the Colorado River Service Unit.
Mary Lou Denny Mary Lou Denny, R.N., Peach Springs Health Center
For exceptional dedication to the improvement of quality patient care at the Peach Springs and Supai clinics of the Colorado River Service Unit.
Lois Wesley Lois Sprengeler-Wesley, San Carlos Hospital
For exceptional performance as the Acting Quality Assurance Officer for the San Carlos Service Unit.
Diane Wakefield Diane Wakefield, R.N., San Carlos Hospital
For exceptional organizational skills, diligent performance and compassionate service to the patients of the San Carlos Hospital in the management of diabetes.
Kelly Reese Dr. Kelly A. Reese
Dr. Reese has served as a physician at the Hopi Health Care Center since September of 2000. Since then she has become a key member of the medical staff and the community. Dr. Reese is an excellent clinician who has made significant contributions in the delivery of all facets of the provision of health care. She has also become a recognized leader in the area of maternal and child health.

Dr. Reese began her work as a primary care provider and soon became the maternal and child health coordinator for the service unit. She improved the performance of OB ultrasounds at the Health Center and developed a data set and data driven presentation regarding the obstetrical services. As a result of her work and presentation the Health Center gained accreditation as a Critical Access Hospital with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.

Dr. Reese is highly dedicated to the provision of high quality, comprehensive health care to the community she serves. She is an exceptional physician and leader. She has performed her duties in a way that has enhanced the delivery of services for patients at the Hopi Health Care Center.
