The Mission of the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest is to provide culturally appropriate education, physical and mental health services and substance abuse treatment that is culturally appropriate for American Indian and Alaska Natives. It is our goal to raise, to the highest possible level, the health status of our people.
History:
The Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest, Inc. is an Indian owned and Indian operated private non-profit organization. Founded in 1970 as an outpatient substance abuse treatment program, the scope of services expanded to add the Residential Treatment Center in 1980 and the Indian Health Clinic in 1993. Located in Portland Oregon, The Residential Center is a Northwest regional resource serving 44 Indian Tribes in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The Indian Health Clinic emphasizes early intervention services in pediatrics, women’s health and mental health services. The Outpatient Treatment Center provides outpatient substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention counseling, the Parents as Teachers program and community outreach linking clients with resources for housing, transportation, child care and other social services. The Indian Health Clinic and Outpatient programs serve the five counties of the Portland/Vancouver Metropolitan Area
Health and Preventive Services:
The treatment philosophy of the agency has always emphasized a family oriented, fully integrated system of care. A multidisciplinary treatment team coordinates case management for each child and family.
