Overseeing the delivery of Health Care to Native American people in the Northwest

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs

Long before Europeans set foot on the North American continent, the three tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation are the Wasco, the Walla Walla (later called the Warm Springs), and the Paiute who lived near the Columbia River, the Cascade Mountains, and in other parts of Oregon. Although we have much in common today, each tribe has its own unique history and heritage. Our people, the Warm Springs Tribes, have succeeded in holding on to many of our ancient traditions and values.

Regardless of our success in the present, the people of Warm Springs realize that we must hold on to our past and bring it into the future, lest the spiritual and cultural values that sustained our people for centuries be lost.

The Warm Springs Health & Wellness Center was completed in the fall of 1993. This facility (37,000 sq. ft) is owned by the tribe and made available to the Indian Health Service.

User population for 2004 was 5,471, provided with:

  • Direct comprehensive medical, optometry, & dental care
  • Comprehensive Diabetes Prevention Program (Model Program)
  • Alcohol and Mental Health Counseling
  • Specialty services including; Rhematology, Cardiology, ENT, Pediatric, Nephrology, oral surgery and endodontic care
  • Ancillary support classes in nutrition and exercise
