Snoqualmie Falls Tribe
The Snoqualmie people have lived in the Snoqualmie River Valley from at least 1844 to present. Our Snoqualmie chief, Patkanin, signed the Point Elliott Treaty of 1855. After the signing of the treaty our people tried to secure a reservation in their ancestral lands by the Tolt River but were not successful.
After years of legal disputes, our tribe finally received federal recognition in 1999. We are determined to restore and preserve Snoqualmie Falls. The Tribe is in the process of determining potential future entrepreneurial options, while ensuring spiritual & cultural sanctuary, educational opportunity, and environmental quality for their people.
A Message from the Elders:
Snoqualmie Falls is the center of creation for the Snoqualmie Tribe. For thousands of years we have cared for the Falls. Generations of our ancestors are buried near the Falls. We wish to preserve the sacredness of this place for all people for all time. We call upon you, our neighbors, here in the northwest, to join us in preserving this "jewel" of creation.
Currently, the Snoqualmie Falls Tribe does not have a freestanding health facility. Their user population at other clinics was 487 for 1998.
