General Environmental Health

This branch of environmental health is broad in scope and seeks to control or eliminate health hazards associated with many different kinds of facilities and business operations, as well as those hazards that occur in the natural environment. The environmental health professional surveying the facilities, businesses, and natural environment may be referred to as an environmental health officer, environmental health specialist, environmental technician, or sanitarian. Based on survey findings, or disease outbreaks, the environmental health professional will use a variety of strategies designed to eliminate the hazard.
