WelcomeNestled amid the foothills of the Ozark Mountains lies the Tahlequah Service Unit, providing first-rate health care to 115,000 members of Federally recognized Indian tribes in over a 4,300 square-mile area. The five counties served, Sequoyah, Muskogee, Cherokee, Adair and McIntosh encompass the majority of the population but others come from Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and other areas of the United States.The W. W. Hastings Indian Hospital is a JCAHO-accredited, 58-bed hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Employing over 600 highly qualified staff members from virtually all the clinical and support disciplines, the facility offers services in:
The hospital logs approximately 4,000 adult and pediatric admissions per year (accounting for some 14,000 inpatient days), with about 1,000 newborn admissions. Nearly 200,000 outpatient visits are handled annually, about 120,000 of them with physician involvement. The permanent medical staff consists of approximately 40 physicians. The 18-bed obstetrics and gynecology department accompanied with a 6 bed labor and delivery has available a fully equipped and expertly staffed surgical and delivery suite. The 18-bed nursery, a model of state-of-the-art equipment and environment, has the added advantage of one of the most advanced maternity and pediatric wings in the Indian Health Service. The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. The facility maintains professional affiliations with the Schools of Nursing and Optometry at Northeastern State University, with the College of Pharmacy at Southwestern State University, Nursing and Radiology schools at Bacone College and with students, interns, and residents from Oklahoma's medical schools. |
