Subject: Indian Health Service Non-Smoking Policy

To: All IHS Employees
Tribal Health Departments

It is the policy of the Indian Health Service to achieve a work place environment free from the harmful effects of tobacco smoke for all IHS employees and beneficiaries.

AS expeditiously as possible, the Indian Health Service will continue to eliminate tobacco smoke in all clinical and administrative facilities and will strongly encourage tribes and others managing health care programs for Native Americans to do the same.
