BACKGROUND:

This transmittal forwards revisions to the Indian Health Service (IHS) Contract Health Services (CHS) program policies and procedures that have resulted from the 1992 amendments to Public Law 94-437, the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, and from changes in program practices that have been implemented since January 1993.

MATERIAL TRANSMITTED:

Indian Health Manual, Part 2, Chapter 3, "Contract Health Services."

MATERIAL SUPERSEDED:

Indian Health Manual, Part 2, Chapter 3, “Contract Health Services," transmittal notice (TN) 93-1, dated January 5, 1993, is replaced in its entirety.

MANUAL MAINTENANCE:

Remove and discard the copy of Chapter 3 in Part 2 of the Indian Health Manual that was transmitted under TN 93-1 and replace it with the attached Chapter 3.

Log and file the TN in sequential order.
