Transmittal Notice 03-06

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this transmittal is to forward the revised Delegation of Authority (DOA) from the Director, Indian Health Service (IHS) to the Director of Headquarters Operations (DHO); Director, Office of Management Support (OMS); Director, Division of Human Resources (DHR); and Area Directors.  This revised DOA allows Area Directors to more broadly redelegate the authority to establish and accept volunteer services under 42 United States Code 217(b) to Area Personnel Officers and Service Unit Directors.  Under the current DOA, redelegation may be given only to the Area Personnel Officers.

Indian Health Manual, Part 1, Chapter 5 - "Delegations of Authority" memorandum, to the DHO; Director, OMS; Director, DHR; Area Directors; and Service Unit Directors.  (Personnel #57)


MATERIAL SUPERSEDED:

The IHS Personnel #57, "DOA to Establish and Accept Volunteer Service," dated January 26, 2001.


MANUAL MAINTENANCE:

File the attached memorandum in the Master Binder for the Personnel DOAs at tab #57.

Log and file this Transmittal Notice in sequential order.
