Transmittal Notice 08-16

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this Transmittal Notice (TN) is to transmit a copy of the revised Part 7, Chapter 3, “Indian Preference,” Indian Health Manual (IHM).  The chapter contains the revised policy and procedures for granting Indian preference within the Indian Health Service (IHS) to certain persons of Indian descent when appointments are made to vacant positions.

Insert the attached copy of the revised Part 7, Chapter 3, “Indian Preference,” IHM, including the chapter Table of Contents, in its place after Part 7, Chapter 2.

Remove and discard Part 7, Chapter 3,“Indian Preference,” TN 2001-04, dated March 12, 2001, from your binder.

Log and file this TN in sequential order.
