Summary:

This is a three-day course designed to teach skills required by dental assistants when working with the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. This will involve clinic as well as operating room settings. Topics to be covered include medical evaluation of patients, sedation procedures, instrumentation, basic anatomy, and sterile technique. A special section will focus on dealing with the difficult surgeon.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. List some common medical conditions and commonly used drugs that impact the care of surgical patients.
2. Identify special instruments, equipment, and materials used in oral surgery.
3. Explain why oral surgeons do what they do.
4. Function more fully as an oral surgery assistant.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
