Diabetes and Oral Health Connection
This training reviews the etiology, signs and symptoms of periodontal disease, the provider’s role in screening and the dental team’s role in treatment. The connection between periodontal disease and diabetes management is discussed. Research shows that the inflammation resulting from periodontal disease can adversely affect a patient’s ability to maintain healthy A1C levels as well as increasing their likelihood of dying from kidney or heart disease.
