
Acquisition of Medications
Medications from Canada and Mexico
As Tribes look for ways to reduce pharmaceutical
costs, many have expressed interest in finding out about acquisition
of pharmaceuticals through foreign sources (for example, medications
from Canada or Mexico). A number of Tribes have been approached
by U.S. and Canadian companies advertising that they can ship Tribes
bulk medications from Canada at reduced prices or the Tribe can
serve as an intermediary for mail order prescriptions from Canadian
pharmacies. Tribes are advised that these activities violate federal
law related to the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act. For additional information,
