SSN and Medicare Verification Questions

What if I need SSN or Medicare verification?
NPIRS sends Medicare/SSN verification files to the Area offices 3-4 times per year. (Note: SSN Verification is currently suspended.) The Area distributes the information to the local sites. Contact your Area Statistical Officer or the NPIRS Helpdesk for the responsible person in your Area.
Local processing of both the SSN and Medicare files is covered in the RPMS Patient Registration (AG) User’s Guide.

NPIRS addendum for the Medicare Verification processing:
When you go to the Eligibility Menu and select ELUP to ‘Upload’, you will eventually be asked for the “AG Eligibility Upload Template Name.” Select the CMS Medicare New (file cmsx*) option to upload these files.
