RRM Module: Telemedicine

Overview:
The RRM Telemedicine staffing module estimates the requirements for telemedicine staff to enhance care in various clinical disciplines. Telemedicine can facilitate expanded regional service delivery. Many clinicians already traveling to regional hospitals/clinics can supplement in-person clinics with telemedicine clinic/consultation services. Other health professionals, such as nutritionists and diabetic educators, can similarly offer services outside their immediate facility in a useful and effective manner via telemedicine care. The workload parameter that is the key variable in the staffing estimation is Outpatient Visits (OPVs).

Services Description:
Telemedicine services are designed to enable extend health services to off site locations at a minimal cost. The telemedicine manage the telehealth services for a facility. Among their duties are: scheduling the telemedicine room for a provider, scheduling patients to be treated via telemedicine, assure that the telemedicine room is maintained.

Staffing Criteria:
0.50 FTE Telemedicine staff for each facility, plus 0.25 FTEs Telemedicine staff for every 25,000 OPVs over 50,000 OPVs.
