NCUIH Membership

Urban Indian Health Programs comprise the majority of NCUIH's membership. However, NCUIH's bylaws allow participation of individuals and other organizations that support the advancement and elevation of health and general welfare of native American/ Alaska Natives. Thus, in creating a "National Voice," we welcome participation from all individuals and organizations regardless of race, color or religion.
The NCUIH board of directors is made up of regional representatives, chosen by members in each region. Regional representatives are responsible for appointing officers through annual membership vote. The board of directors, officers and all members are gathered at an annual membership meeting, usually held in march, where upcoming specific tasks are reviewed. Of the Urban Indian Health Programs represented by NCUIH, 22 provide medical services, 12 are access programs, and 10 are alcohol/substance abuse treatment facilities.
