One day a father and his son were walking to a camp on the
other side of a large lake. They had a choice: to cross
the lake (the short way) or go around it (the long way).
The boy asked a young frog sitting on a tree stump, "How
deep is this lake?" The young frog said, "Knee deep. Knee
deep. You can cross it." The father, however, did not trust
the young frog. He said, "I'm going to ask the older frog
because he is wiser." "Can we cross this lake Wise Frog?"
the father asked. "No. Go around. Go around," replied the
older frog.

Because the boy was lazy and he believed the young frog, he
started to cross the lake. All of a sudden, plop! The young
boy disappeared out of sight! There was a big hole at the
bottom of the lake. The father jumped in and saved him. |
|
Later, the father and the boy walked around the lake to the
camp. On the way they saw birds, deer, flowers, and trees.
They learned a lot walking around the lake. The wise frog
had given good advice. |
