December 1, 2009 is World AIDS day, marking its 20th anniversary. The concept of a World AIDS Day originated at the 1988 World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programs for AIDS Prevention.

The week of April 25 - May 2, 2009 is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), a week recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a National Health Observance.
