Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Health Clinic is located in Flandreau, South Dakota and independently provides primary care health services to eligible Native American people living on or near Flandreau Santee Sioux Indian Reservation Service Area consisting of Moody County [including students at Flandreau Indian Boarding School] under a PL 93-638 contract with the Indian Health Service. Moody County is a federally designated Frontier area and carries a federal Medically Underserved Population [MUP] designation. An indicator of the high poverty rate is 45.8 of Flandreau school children qualify for free and reduced lunches. In 2010, culturally competent, high quality services were provided to 476 FSST Tribal Members and a total of 1,688 Native Americans with an estimated 40.5 FTE staff. The top five health priorities, in order of need, are diabetes, behavioral health, cancer, heart disease, and dental disease.
