SUBJECT: Delegation of Authority to Establish and Accept Volunteer Services

AUTHORITY DELEGATED

Pursuant to the authority delegated to the Director, Indian Health Service, by the Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in Personnel Instruction 930-2 issued on June 2, 1997, I hereby delegate to the individuals holding the positions identified below the authority to establish and accept volunteer services, under 42 U.S. Code 217(b), for use in the operation of a health care facility or the provision of health care.

REDELEGATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS

The authority delegated above may not be redelegated.

INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE

Requirements and instructions for exercising this authority are found in HHS Instruction 930-2, “Accepting Volunteer Service for Use in Providing Health Care.”

PRIOR DELEGATIONS

This Delegation of Authority (DOA) supersedes the Administrative DOA No. 32, “Establish Volunteer Service Programs,” dated November 23, 1988, and Personnel DOA No. 57, dated May 13,2003.

EFFECTIVE DATE

This delegation is effective upon the date of signature.
