BACKGROUND:

Section 1-3.4, Objectives of the Indian Health Program has been revised to redefine and to emphasize the Division's responsibility and its goal of elevating the health status of the Indian and Alaska Native beneficiaries to the highest possible level. The former paragraph on interim objectives within this same section has been rewritten to set forth the continuing objectives of the Division.

Added as a new section is 1-4.5A, Organization Relationships for Headquarters to Area Offices to Service Units. In addition to the chapter, charts have been included to illustrate this relationship.
