Transmittal Notice 96-06

BACKGROUND:

This is to transmit a change to the Indian Health Manual, (IHM), Part 1, Chapter 5, Delegations of Authority.  Attached are Delegations of Authority for the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, Public Law 93-638, As Amended.

Program Delegation No. 5, "Delegation of Authority for the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act," memorandums to:

1.  The Director of Headquarters Operations (DHO) from the Director, IHS dated March 14, 1996.
2.  The Director, Alaska Area from the Acting DHO dated March 14, 1996

The attached delegations supersede the delegations of authority to the DHO and the Director, Alaska Area contained in the IHM, Part 1, Chapter 5, “Delegations of Authority,” Subject:  Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, Title I, Exhibit 1-5.1J, dated November 23, 1988.  Previous delegations to the extent that they are consistent with this delegation and until they are superseded or canceled by appropriate authority.

Insert the attached delegations behind index tab no. 5 in your binders containing copies of the Program Delegations of Authority.

Log and file this transmittal notice in sequential order in the IHM, Part 1, Chapter 5.
