Transmittal Notice 96-11

BACKGROUND:

This is to transmit Part 3, Chapter 5, of the Indian Health Manual (IHM), entitled "Nutrition".  The Chapter sets forth the policy, procedures, objectives and responsibilities relating to nutrition care in the Indian Health Service (IHS).  Change in the chapter title from "Nutrition and Dietetics" to "Nutrition" is made to include all major practice divisions of nutrition care as defined by the American Dietetic Association in its Standards of Practice.

Remove the existing material and insert the attached chapter in the IHM, Part 3.  Replace IHM Table of Contents, page i, and Part 3 Table of Contents with the attached pages updated October 24, 1996.  Record this transmittal Notice TN number on the TN Checklist and file this TN in sequential order.
