IHS Spotlight - (GET THE FLASH PLUGIN)

Find Health Care - Finding health care just got easier! The new Find Health Care website gives you quick and easy access to find your nearest IHS, Tribal or Urban Indian Health Program (UIHP) facility. You can enter your address and find the nearest health facility and you can also search facilities by their information. Once you've found a facility you'll be able to see the address, phone number, website and even get driving directions. Breastfeeding - Did you know that breastfeeding can significantly reduce the risk of childhood obesity, diabetes, allergies and asthma, and many types of infections such as upper respiratory, gastro intestinal, necrotizing enterocolitis? The 14 Indian Health Service maternity hospitals are working to adopt the World Health Organization’s 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and to be designated as a "Baby Friendly Hospital" by Baby Friendly USA. IHS is launching a website devoted entirely to this initiative.
IHS Job Vacancies - IHS offers extraordinary employment opportunities in various occupations providing health care to a medically underserved population in diverse communities across the country. From Alaska to Washington, DC the IHS is looking for dedicated employees.
Physician Assistant Recruitment - Physician Assistants (PA) in IHS are invaluable medical team members, expanding the reaches of health services by delivering high quality care to Native American/Alaska Native Communities in a variety of settings. Physician Assistants provide affordable, comprehensive, and personalized comprehensive healthcare to all patients. Consider joining our dedicated healthcare team of professionals in IHS!
Social Media - Social media websites such as Facebook are vital for information sharing and interaction with people outside of the business place. For IHS this provides an additional way to share with patients, providers, tribes and the general public. While we are early in our adoption of social media we have established several pages.
Preparing for ICD-10 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced in January of 2009 that International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) Clinical Modification (CM) and ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (PCS) will be implemented into the HIPAA mandated code set on October 1, 2013. Additionally, effective January 1, 2012, you must be ready to submit your claims electronically using the X12 Version 5010 and NCPDP Version D.0 standards. This also is a prerequisite for implementing the new ICD-10 codes.
