The Diabetes Prevention Program [DPP] showed that lifestyle changes effectively decreased the development of Type 2 diabetes therefore, the DPP 16-lesson core curriculum was used to implement the lifestyle intervention. Lessons involved ways to establish healthy eating habits, low calorie, and low fat meal planning and moderate physical activity, such as brisk walking.
