IHS.gov Page Titles Standard
Standard:
All IHS.gov websites will have <title> code which accurately reflects what site the users is on as well as what page of that site is being shown.
Requirements:
- All IHS.gov websites will have <title> code that follows format Site Name - Page Topic
- Titles will not have IHS or Indian Health Service in them.
Example:
The Web Services websites has a page called "Technologies". This webpage should have <title>Web Services - Technologies</title>.
Justification and Reasoning:
This standard ensures that users will be able to find information related to both the site and page topic in a consistent fashion. Additionally, using this format ensures that search engines identify these pages with both the page topic and name. This also helps clearly identifying bookmarked websites because of each webpages unique name that is saved.
