Summary:

To register for this course, call Albuquerque Area Dental Support Center at 505-922-4229. The first session will serve as a comprehensive review of clinical pediatric dentistry. Course participants will interact with the instructor in an open-forum seminar on a variety of pediatric dentistry topics including the following:
1. Examination, diagnosis and treatment planning
2. Infant examination and anticipatory guidance
3. Restorative dentistry for the pediatric patient
4. Pulp therapy for the primary dentition.

The second session will be a contemporary update in the diagnosis and management of permanent tooth trauma in children and young adolescents. The format will feature a review of up-to-date fundamentals, many of which will be illustrated by case reviews. Participants will learn about emerging treatment modalities. Avulsion therapy will be examined from the standpoint of re-plantation with reliance on best evidence. Revascularization and de-coronation will be discussed as emerging treatment strategies to consider following permanent tooth trauma.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe and implement an infant oral health exam.
2. Discuss preventive and restorative treatment options for children.
3. Explain the management of simple and complex dental injuries.
4. List contemporary clinical treatment modalities for everyday clinical practice.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
