Summary:

This web based study group will meet for one hour, six times per year. At each meeting, two articles will be reviewed and the person presenting the article will be responsible for a brief review and beginning the discussion. Each specialty will have an opportunity to be represented. The study group will provide an opportunity to present evidence based research articles that support concepts of dental practice in IHS that may differ from what dentists new [or old] to IHS may have learned or experienced.

The session on December 14 will include clinical data analysis, personnel training, and problem solving. Dr. Kathy Phipps will discuss the Impact of Enamel Hypoplasia on Your Clinical Practice; including epidemiology and strategies for treatment. Dr. Lori Snidow, AGPR Resident, collaborating with Dr. Mike Winkler, Oral Surgeon, will discuss Bisphosphonates: An Update on the Latest Research and Guidelines, covering new issues with the once-annually administered Reclast, guidelines for risk assessment, and briefly outlining current thoughts and directions in the literature.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of these sessions, the participant will be able to:
1. Apply treatment protocol for primary and permanent teeth with enamel defects.
2. Understand the effect of Bisphosphinates on dental treatment options and reduce the risk of post-op complications.
