Summary:

THIS COURSE IS ONLY BEING OFFERED CURRENTLY FOR THE ACL, AIDC, AND FORT DEFIANCE PROGRAMS The purpose of this course is to provide instruction of Advanced Restorative techniques and materials for those dental assistants who have previously completed the Basic Restorative Functions course, and have been utilized as expanded functions assistants placing restorations for at least two years. This course will focus on concepts concerning tooth anatomy and morphology but will primarily be a hands-on course working with typodonts and doing complex restorations. The bulk of these restorations will be Class II MOD, Cusp Protected Alloy [CPA], and Class IV or larger composites. Lectures will also review and update course participants on dental restorative materials. Students will learn about occlusion and spacing of teeth. The course will require that each participant complete 40 advanced restorations including 20 CPA restorations in a clinical setting before receiving his/her certificate.

•Determine the difference between an acceptable and unacceptable restoration.
•Have a clear understanding of tooth anatomy and morphology, including occlusion.
•Understand how to place complex dental restorations.
•Learn about various dental materials.

Prerequisites:

•Completion of Restorative Functions-Basic, and or equivalent or successful completion of the Esthetic Restorative Course
•Two years experience placing clinical restorations.
•Supervising Dental Officer Assessment of clinical skill, that Dental Assistant is ready for Advanced Restorative course

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
