Summary:

In order to address the dual epidemics of Chronic Pain and Unintended Overdose within Indian Country, IHS, in partnership with the University of New Mexico Project ECHO and the Center for Rural and Community Behavioral Health, is providing Essential Training on Pain and Addiction. This training will be essential for all IHS providers who have a DEA number and will provide 5 1/2 hours of free CE.

The training will focus on providing knowledge on several topics including- pain management, aberrant behaviors, risk factors, opioid treatments, non-opioid treatments, non-pharmacological treatments, and pain prevalence. Case vignettes will use real-world examples of patient interactions and role-plays to learn how to address difficult issues and topics with patients.

This presentation is open to everyone, and there is no fee to participate in this webinar. Continuing education credits from various disciplines will be provided for attending this webinar. Details on how to claim these credits will be provided during the presentation. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED; Each individual must register. Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Discuss the epidemic of unintentional opiate overdose deaths.
2. List Institute of Medicine Guidelines for Best Practices in pain management.
3. Explain safe prescribing of opiate analgesics, with detailed equianalgesic dosing guidelines.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
