Summary:

Review and discuss the updated [2017] periodontal classification system and how to implement it into clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:

1.   Understand the differences between the 1999 and 2017 periodontal classification system
2.   Perform the Clinical Steps in Diagnosis
3.   Diagnose periodontal disease using the 2017 classification system
4.   Use the appropriate CDT codes for periodontal disease treatment

Speaker / Presenter:

Melanie Whalen — After graduating dental school, Dr. Whalen attended an AEGD through the US Army. After serving in various duty stations and positions, she completed a two-year GPR at Wake Forest University Hospital in preparation for her transition to IHS. Since moving to Navajo Nation, she continued her service in USPHS and achieved board certification [ABGD] and Mastership of the Academy of General Dentistry [MAGD]. Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
