Area HIM Consultants Meetings
The Area HIM Consultants meet bi-annually to discuss HIM national issues, program initiatives, develop policy, and to provide guidance to I/T/U health information professionals in the field. Contact the appropriate Area HIM Consultant for further information.
Area HIM Conferences
Some Areas provide an HIM Conference that provides guidance on HIM practices. This is usually attended by local HIM staff. Contact the appropriate Area HIM Consultant for further information.
HIM/BO Partnership Conference
The IHS Health Information Management/Business Office (HIM/BO) Partnership Conference is typically held each year. The conference provides operational training for I/T/U HIM/BO staff. Topics offered at this annual conference typically include the following: Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act, coding, Electronic Health Record for HIM, the Legal Health Record, Data Quality, Monitoring and Auditing, and various RPMS software applications.
Other Conferences
CMS I/T/U Outreach and Education Event: in partnership with the States, the Veterans Administration, the Social Security Administration, the DHHS Office of the Inspector General, and the IHS, provides training to patient benefits advocates on the programs and benefits available through Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Health Insurance Marketplace. AHIMA
AHIMA offers their yearly convention which includes interactive education presentations, panel discussions and open forums to discuss how information can be transformed into a strategic asset for healthcare purposes. You may access detail information at: www.ahima.org

AAPC offers their yearly conference which include presentations, panel discussions with a focus on auditing, billing, coding, compliance, practice management, revenue and technology.
