The IHS Division of Oral Health is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider
This course will provide basic training for IHS staff who offer continuing dental education courses in a distance education [DE] format. The majority of IHS continuing education courses are developed and taught by clinical staff. Many courses have been taught over long period, and ongoing evaluation and modifications have made most of these courses effective. Therefore IHS has a strong cadre of instructors with excellent content knowledge and willingness to teach courses. However, few of these instructors have experience in distance course development and instruction. The purpose of this course is to give IHS staff the tools needed to design dental continuing education in distance or blended formats.
The goal of Distance Education Course Design 101 is to develop distance education skills in the current IHS dental workforce.
At the end of this course participants will be able to:
Discuss advantages and disadvantages of different DE format options
Identify appropriate multi-media resources for a DE course
Explain the DE course design process
