  • Registration not required. Although, traditional medicine has a long history of importance and use in health maintenance and disease prevention and treatment in AI/AN communities, it is often underestimated as a part of health services. This session will provide an overview of the potential contributions of indigenous diet and plant medicine, both forms of traditional medicine, to health, wellness, and people-centered health care. Discussion of appropriate integration of traditional medicine practitioners and practices into health systems, and utilizing action plans that include external patient and provider resources that strengthen the role traditional medicine can play in keeping AI/AN populations healthy will also be provided.

Upcoming Sessions:

  • Tuesday, July 14, 2015
    3pm EDT / 2pm CDT / 1pm MDT / 12pm PDT / 11am AKDT
AI/AN Lifestyle Changes and Their Impact on Health
    John Umhau, MD, MPH
